I too have been taken in by Marvin windows. But in this case, over 200 windows.

80% of the windows leak air and water at the bottom corners and along the sides. Its not the installation but the windows themselves. They are rated high but in the real world fail miserably. They are made poorly with little or no tolerance factor.

Wide gaps along the sides, poor sealing capabilities along the bottom, I don't know how they passed the government standards indicated in their brochure unless payola was involved. These double hung units can't even stop a 20mph wind. Save yourself the money and buy something else. Their service dept.

is useless and they really don't care about their product and how it is perceived to the general public. Save yourself the aggrivation, time, and overpriced cost.

Monetary Loss: $100.

Location: Chicago, Illinois

I have to laugh at "shopping4windows" post. Marvin customers are scammers?

I installed all Marvin Ultimate windows in my new 5500 sq foot home in 1996.

Most of them are rotting to the point the hardware is falling off.

The seal between the panes have failed on many.

To add to this joy I installed the same windows in an office building I had built and every seal has failed and every window is cloudy.

I will tell you who the scammer is, Mr.

shopping4windows", or should I say, Mr. Marvin???"

If you buy wood windows go to douglas fir wood ( Loewen )

I had Marvin window gliders and had trouble with them not gliding. They would stick to the bottom track and I would have to bang on the wood frame to get it loose.

I replaced them with Walsh windows which are made in Duluth MN. I REALLY love them.

They're a well made vinyl window that is sold in Canada, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. The gliders glide perfectly and they are a solid feeling window with low-E glass.

Well, I may as well board up the walls, I can't find any good comments for window brands. This would have been my best bet for praises, Marvin...now what?

All these installer guys say shop around, I am, now scared. Crestline installed in our new home now 7yrs old, total garbage-I'll be using car window scraper to get ice off inside of them this winter if we don't change them!

How about some names guys!! :x

You know what's really weird. There is nothing about Andersen windows anywhere on this site.

Not one complaint.

They install more windows than Marvin. What is up with that?

are all of you bloggers, scammers? real homeowners would at least tell the year the windows were installed and what type of window (ultrex/wood, all ultrex, older vinyl clad). you've been busted.

Guest

marvin makes several different products, so why didn't you specify the year you had the windows installed and what type of window (ultrex/wood, older vinyl clad, all-ultrex). i think you're a scammer.

When we built our home 19 years ago, we used Marvin windows. Several years ago I spoke with a secretary who was suppose to have a representative contact me concerning problems with the windows - I am still waiting for a response!!!!!!

Needless to say, I will not purchase any Marvin products again.
