Marvin Windows And Doors - Rotted window sashes"gave us" wood sills as replacement
2 comments
All wood Marvin windows installed in 1986. Repeatedly filling and replacing sills for rot. Class action lawsuit got us replacement wood sills. Ha!! Still reading about rot in windows as of 2012---DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. All sills have been replaced with "fake wood" by us. The plastic tracks on either side of window- glides? crack, have wide open areas for bugs to nest, ropes break. These windows are a high priced on going nightmare.
We have one patio door-all wood- installed in 1986. Still going strong--Anderson--.
Enough said.
Unless you want ongoing maintenance, stay away from Marvin

Always surprises me how people buy all wood windows and expect them to last forever . Silly rabbits
Andersen (not Anderson) Stopped doing all wood doors in 1983. You know why, rot.
Andersen started using a liquid vinyl on their doors in 1987. The door that was done between that period was a Perma-Shield door which is wood wrapped in pvc and therefore can't rot.
All wood exterior products are a lot of maintenance and I'm glad we are seeing fewer and fewer jobs of them.
Marvin offers 2o year warranty on the finish of the clad colors, which are endless. You want less maintenance, purchase a low maintenance exterior clad not wood.
Thanks,
Mike
